A BETTER WAY: Trained and Dedicated Families
The supreme mission of the Church is to glorify God and to preach the Gospel and make disciples throughout the world. The local Church is the most effective agency to accomplish this mission and to send and support missionaries. Church leadership can identify and prepare families who are motivated to invest their lives in people of another culture. These families can become a part of that culture, demonstrating the living Gospel with every opportunity as they help to enhance the lives of the people they serve.
You have heard the proverb: “if you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime”. The Master's Mission is focused on teaching men to fish.
A missionary family moved to Kenya in 1996 and established their home in a small town. They built a homestead for themselves and for another support missionary while teaching community members construction techniques. They have helped the community develop a source of fresh water and have helped improve the economy of the town by establishing businesses for the local population to own and run. They are integral members of the community and have made life better for everyone in the area, demonstrating what it means to live, work, and play according to biblical principles and direction.
The people of that community are realizing that following Christ is a better way to live. Because of these dedicated missionary families, the church there is growing. Local people hear and see the message of Christ and turn to Him as Savior.
